THE HOUSE OF ELIOTT REDUX?

From Jean Marsh & Eileen Atkins {the creative masterminds behind Upstairs, Downstairs}, The House of Eliott originally aired in the early 1990's.  This brilliant costume drama depicts the trials & tribulations of 2 sisters launching an haute couture fashion house in the 1920's, and truly the only disappointment is the show's abrupt end {due to cancellation by the BBC.}  Although I was an ardent viewer when Masterpiece Theater originally broadcast THoE, I'm watching it again thanks to Netflix and loving every minute.  Interestingly, the series re-aired in the UK on ITV last fall.  Perhaps, like Upstairs, a new version is in the offing?

Yesterday I visited The Mint Museum's newly reinstalled galleries featuring garments and accessories, including fabulous odd bits of millinery, spanning three centuries of fashion history.  Amazing examples from England, France, Italy and America.  Be sure to see the 'Fashionable Silhouettes' exhibition before it ends.
